Meeting the tougher thermal performance, thermal bridging and airtightness of the new regulations can be
both extremely challenging and costly. The new Kingspan TEK Building System panels in a 172 mm thickness can achieve the U-values you need to comply with the English, Welsh and 2015 Scottish regulations, without the need for any additional insulation.
Traditional construction methods rely on bricks and blocks, or a conventional timber frame. The Kingspan TEK Building System is based on structural insulated panels (SIPs). These 142 or 172 mm thick panels comprise high performance rigid urethane insulation sandwiched between two sheets of Oriented Strand Board (OSB).
The Kingspan TEK Building System is the perfect high performance building fabric solution for extremely low energy buildings which require little or no heating at all, such as those designed to Passivhaus standard.
The Kingspan TEK Building System is also typically very quick to build. The panels can be erected and joined together very quickly and, with the application of a breather membrane, the System forms a weather tight shell, enabling you to start doing jobs such as dry-lining at the same time as tiling the roof.
The Kingspan TEK Building System comprising 142 mm thick panels yields worst case whole wall and roof U-values of 0.20 Wm2.K with no additional insulation.
The Kingspan TEK Building System comprising 172 mm thick panels yields worst case whole wall and roof U-values of 0.16 Wm2.K with no additional insulation. Extremely low U-values, e.g. 0.10 Wm2.K can easily be achieved with the addition of an insulated lining.
