BREEAM (the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) is the world’s leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. Schemes applicable to the UK include BREEAM UK New Construction and BREEAM UK Non-domestic Refurbishment and Fit-out.
For the BREEAM UK New Construction Scheme, and UK Refurbishment and Fit-out Schemes, credits are awarded in ten sections according to performance. The section scores are then added together to produce a single overall score on a scale of Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent or Outstanding.
Kingspan TEK Building System
Two sections offer credits related directly to thermal insulation products. The relevant subsections are Ene 1, Mat 1, Mat 3 and Mat 4. Wall elements constructed using the 142 mm thick panels will typically achieve A+ or A generic Green Guide Ratings for which credits can be achieved in BREEAM section Mat 1, Life Cycle Impacts.
Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel
Kingspan TEK Cladding Panels can achieve credits in BREEAM section ENE 1 Reduction of CO2 Emissions due to the panels capability of achieving excellent u-values, their closed cell structure and the proprietary jointing system which can help create a very air-tight structure for the walls.
Kingspan TEK Cladding Panels are manufactured from the routine thinnings of managed plantations and carry PEFC Chain of Custody certification in accordance with TUV NORD CERT auditing and certification procedures helping achieve credits in the BREEAM section MAT 3 Responsible Sourcing of Materials.
Wall elements constructed using the 142 mm thick panels will typically achieve A+ or A summary Green Guide Ratings for which credits can be achieved in BREEAM section MAT 1 Life Cycle Specification. Credits can also be achieved under MAT 4 Insulation for the panels themselves due to to their insulated core and environmental impact.
Kingspan Unidek Aero
With a combination of Kingspan Unidek Aero panels capability of achieving extremely low u-values and air tightness from their closed cell structure and jointing system BREEAM credits can be achieved in section Ene 1 Reduction of CO2 Emissions.
